From The Desk Of Managing Director
Mr. Atulya Nath,
Director, GIIP
The Global Institute of Intellectual Property (GIIP) has been a leader in Intellectual Property education for more than 8 years. In mid 2000, long before the term "intellectual property" was in wide use in India, GIIP recognized the close relations between legal issues and technology by establishing the country's first Post Graduate Diploma in Intellectual Property Rights and Patent Management for non-lawyers. The result: an Intellectual Property PGD Program that is second to none, and that is ready and eager to equip students to deal with the innovations of the coming century.

In last few years, careers in IPR (especially patent law) have caught the attention of a growing number of engineers and scientists. An increase in patent related issues, have led to a substantial need, among pharmaceutical, biotechnology, chemical, IT, electronics, telecommunication, automobile, fast moving consumer goods companies, for individuals with strong educational background in respective technical field and having key patent skills. Today, many such companies, engaged in research-driven activities, are employing patent professionals with increasing frequency to patent the outcome of their research activities.

The GIIP PGD program is designed for engineers and scientists interested in intensive study of US, International and comparative patent law. As a patent professional your job is to meet clients to learn about their inventions and to clearly describe in writing how to make and use an invention, laying down claims for what makes it "novel" and "inventive" as set out in the Patent Act of the jurisdiction where you propose to file the patent application. This is not an easy task and requires a thorough understanding of science, the relevant patent laws and good writing and communication skills.

For many students, internships have proven to be one of the best ways to gain mentorship from members of the local intellectual property community and placement with leading Organizations. GIIP's strong engagement with MNCs, KPOs, Law Firms and Government Organizations, involved in patent activities, research and innovation has ensured placement for all and a never ending career.

In tune with our Institute's Vision and Mission our commitment is to develop skills in field of patent law that are superior and will provide boost to the patent system in India.

GIIP's wide diversity of faculty resources and close proximity to industry permit unparalleled access to the latest and most important issues in all areas of the field, both domestic and foreign.

Our placements record has helped us in building meaningful collaboration with leading Institutions, like the George Washington University USA, University of Washington USA and European Information User Group. You will have access to the best international resources and learn from the most experienced practitioner in the field.

It gives me great pleasure to welcome you to our Campus, to discuss how GIIP can help you in getting a dream job and a long term career.

Best Wishes,
Atulya Nath
